A Project Like No Other

The Solar Innovation Centre, located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai ( the world's largest single-site solar park) serves as a landmark research and education facility for the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Designed by Kettle Collective, led by design principal Tony Kettle, the building's striking form draws on the principles of Islamic geometric art, extruding a two-dimensional pattern into a dramatic, sculptural three-dimensional structure that spirals upward while shading its interior from the desert sun.

The centre showcases DEWA's latest solar and sustainable technologies to researchers, students, and industry professionals, and has achieved a LEED Platinum rating of 101 out of 110 points, the highest score recorded worldwide for a new government building. Kingspan's EuroCO system was supplied for the project, contributing to the building's advanced daylighting and climate performance in one of the world's most demanding desert environments.
