An expertise in retrofitting.
From the outset, managing the oversized transport for such massive structures posed a significant logistical challenge.
Chimpex S.A. is a market leader in port operations in the Port of Constanta, Romania, since 1971. In 2012, Chimpex became part of Ameropa Group. Ameropa is a privately owned Swiss company with international exposure to the agricultural market.
The company has experience in handling the following types of cargoes: grains (any type), solid chemical fertilizers, sugar bulk, phosphate/apatite, vegetable oil, UAN and other bulk and general cargoes.
The installation highlighted our expertise in retrofitting, as the project required replacing large, outdated skylights on an existing roof. From the outset, managing the oversized transport for such massive structures posed a significant logistical challenge. This was followed by the precise dismantling of the old skylights and the seamless adaptation of the existing structural bases to integrate the advanced Kingspan Light + Air systems.
The primary advantage of the proposed solution was preserving the existing bitumen membrane waterproofing, completely eliminating the need for any additional waterproofing work.
Furthermore, given the project's coastal location within the sea port, high wind load capacity was another critical factor; therefore, we installed heavily reinforced systems specifically engineered to withstand extreme maritime weather conditions. - SL 2.0 kN/sqm and WL 2.89 kN/sqm.
For specialized safety requirements, the smoke exhaust systems were equipped with pneumatic ATEX-certified actuators, fully compliant with hazardous area and Ex-zone regulations.
Execution was carried out by a dedicated team of 6 to 8 state-authorized technicians, fully certified by Romanian authorities for complex smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV) installations.
